Terry Whin-Yates, CRL, Receives National Accreditation

Terry Whin-Yates, BA Hons (Criminology) CRL, of Burnaby BC Canada recently was awarded the designation of “Certified Registered Locksmith (CRL) by the Associated Locksmiths of America (ALOA) based in Dallas, Texas.

The CRL credential provides an objective measure of an individual’s knowledge and competency in locksmithing and physical security.  Throughout the world, it is recognized as the locksmith profession’s level of certification.

In order to earn this credential, Terry Whin-Yates, CRL, had to comply with stringent eligibility requirements, including demonstrating that he had met certain education and work experience qualifications. He then had to pass a comprehensive examination that tested his knowledge and skills in major areas of locksmithing and physical security.

The ALOA Proficiency Registration Program (PRP) was introduced in 1985 and

Terry Whin-Yates is one of over 2700 physical security professionals to achieve this level and recognize its value.

Terry Whin-Yates is the president and CEO of Mr. Locksmith. Terry grew up in Ontario, where his father and grandfather taught him how to pick locks. He moved to BC to get his master’s degree in Criminology. Today he lives in Vancouver and his children work in the business. Mr. Locksmith has several locksmith franchisees, all of whom are like extensions of the family business.
